Elevator Pitch - Reducing Waste
Luven - Hi there! I'm Luven, a student of APU promoting awareness towards better care of our mother nature by reducing waste.

Why we need to reduce waste? This is because it is safe to say all of us lending a place to stay on earth are responsible for the well-being of mother nature, which can be achieved with minimizing our waste. As planet earth is our only option to live on, protective measures have to be in place for the longevity of earth to be inhabited by humans for the future generations. Therefore, this proves initiatives to reduce waste is extremely crucial and is worth to invest our time in (Stephenson, 2019).

What can we do to reduce waste? No matter who you are, just small efforts could make a difference. At home, turning off electrical appliances when not in use is sufficient to help reduce electrical waste. As for students, taking all-you-can-eat at the cafeteria rather than being greedy can minimize food waste. On the other hand, parents could pack lunches for their children in reusable containers, rather than disposing them daily, which would significantly decrease plastic waste (Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 2019).

Let's take actions to reduce waste together, to create a cleaner and greener future. Are you ready? {202 words}

Nareen- Hi there, my name is Nareen Raj and I am from APU. In a world where resources are finite and waste is becoming an overwhelming challenge, reducing waste is not just an environmental imperative but a practical and economic one. Imagine a system where every product is designed with its end in mind, minimizing excess and rethinking our consumption patterns. By reducing waste, we can significantly cut down on pollution, conserve precious natural resources, and reduce costs for businesses and consumers alike (Mramstead, 2020).

Embracing a zero-waste mindset means opting for reusable over disposable, repairing rather than replacing, and recycling instead of discarding. Businesses can innovate by developing sustainable products and packaging, ultimately attracting eco-conscious consumers and reducing operational costs through efficient resource use. For individuals, this translates into a cleaner environment, less clutter, and a more mindful approach to living.

By adopting comprehensive waste reduction strategies, we can drive systemic change that not only preserves our planet for future generations but also fosters a culture of responsibility and sustainability. Reducing waste is a win-win situation that promotes environmental stewardship, economic resilience, and a healthier, more sustainable future. Join us in making a tangible impact—because every small step towards waste reduction leads to a giant leap for our planet.{202 words}

Naviin - Hi, I'm Naviin Raj, a Computer Science student at APU. Many low-income individuals in our neighborhood struggle to secure jobs due to a lack of professional attire. This creates a barrier that limits their job mobility and career advancement opportunities (Quintana, 2022).

Moving on, consider the potential of leveraging technology to address this issue. The idea is to connect individuals who have gently used business attire with those who need it for job interviews. By creating a platform that facilitates these connections, we can help job seekers present themselves professionally without incurring significant costs.

This typically occurs in a community where there is a strong desire to support one another. Such a solution not only empowers individuals but also fosters a sense of community involvement and promotes sustainable practices by encouraging the reuse of clothing. Long-term and ambitious plans to develop this platform are crucial to show potential supporters its viability and impact. It is important to let stakeholders understand the business's position and stance in the current economy, which is filled with competitors. This approach can alleviate concerns and encourage participation.

Ultimately, this solution aims to make a real difference, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to present their best selves in the job market. Thank you. [205 words]

Chong -Hi, I'm Chong Chun Kit, a student at APU. I'd like to talk about the current state of increased environmental awareness and how important it is for every individual to reduce waste.

Prior to anything else, we must educate ourselves on the benefits of waste reduction, which include a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions that fuel climate change. You can aid in preventing pollution and protecting the environment by cutting back on the quantity of waste you produce. In addition, you save money, protect the environment, and reduce the quantity of waste that ends up in landfills. Individuals must accept accountability for their waste management behaviors and actively work to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Future generations can benefit from a healthier planet thanks to our adoption of sustainable habits. (US EPA, 2024)

How are we going to reduce trash, you ask? To begin with, everyone has access to reusable water bottles, but how frequently do you really use them? Reuse that bottle to reduce waste, save costs, and save resources. Additionally, you'll be less likely to buy pricey beverages while on the road. They will no longer arrive in single-use containers as a result of this. Although the majority of cans and bottles are recyclable, their production, transportation to the bottling plant, and final retail purchase all involve significant energy use. Sze Jay - Hello, my name is Sze Jay, and I am a student from Asia Pacific University. Can you imagine a world where our waste footprint is minimal, natural resources are preserved, and our environment flourishes? Reducing waste is crucial to making this vision a reality. By taking simple yet impactful actions, each one of us can contribute to this change. Start by reusing items whenever possible—this extends the life of products and decreases the need for new resources . Recycling correctly ensures materials like paper, plastic, and glass are transformed into new products, cutting down on the waste that ends up in landfills (Chandra, 2020).

Moreover, opting for sustainable products and reducing single-use items can significantly reduce the volume of waste we generate. These choices not only help conserve resources but also reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, playing a key role in combating climate change . Consider the broader impact of waste reduction: cleaner air, healthier ecosystems, and a more sustainable future for generations to come.

By embracing these practices, we demonstrate our commitment to environmental stewardship. Let’s take responsibility for our waste, make informed choices, and inspire others to do the same. Together, we can create a cleaner, healthier planet by significantly reducing our waste footprint. [201 words]
